DO I need STCW Basic Safety to work on Yachts ?
Yes to work on a Yacht as a Stewardess or to work on a Yacht as a Deckhand you need to complete the STCW Basic Safety Training (2010 Manila standards )
The other qualifications you need to become yacht crew are ENG1 Medical Certificate and ISPS Security Awareness and Personal Designated Security Duties. We can provide all these course and certificates online.
WHERE IS THE STCW TRAINING ?
Yacht STCW Croatia – STCW Basic Safety is in beautiful Split, Croatia. Only 15 minutes from the Airport close to many yachts and beaches that you can enjoy during your days off.
IS YACHT STCW CROATIA TRAINING WORLDWIDE APPROVED ?
Yes it is worldwide approved as per STCW, MCA and EU standards. You will get an STCW Basic Safety Certificate issued that fills the minimum requirements to work on any yacht in the world.
IS ACCOMMODATION INCLUDED IN THE STCW TRAINING ?
Yes you get free STCW accommodation included, just next to the STCW Training centre. It is a new modern Hostel with shared accommodation that you can enjoy during your 7 nights stay.
We pay and include 7 nights starting before your training and during the complete 6 days STCW training.
After the training week we recommend you use the days off to move closer to Split Old town, but if you want we can also request to extend your stay at the Hostel.
DO I GET A STCW BASIC SAFETY CERTIFICATE ?
Yes, at the end of the course of Yacht STCW Croatia. You get a worldwide approved STCW Basic Safety Certificate issued to work on yachts.
What is included in STCW Basic Safety Training ?
During the STCW Basic Safety Training we cover all safety aspects as per the requirements by international STCW standards. Below you can read a more detailed Yacht STCW Croatia Training schedule.
DAY 1-2 - Personal Survival Techniques VI/I-I
- Introduction, safety and survival
- Emergency situations
- Evacuation
- Survival craft and rescue boats
- Personal life – saving appliances
- Survival at sea
- Emergency radio equipment
- Helicopter assistance
day 2-4 - Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting VI/I-2
- Introduction and principles
- Minimize the risk of fire
- Maintain a state of readiness to respond to emergency situation involving fires
- Fight and extinguish fires
- Review and final assessment
DAY 5 - Elementary First Aid VI/I-3
- General principles
- Body structure and functions
- Positioning of casualty
- The unconscious casualty
- Resuscitation
- Bleeding
- Management of shock
- Burns and scalds, and accidents caused by electricity
- Rescue and transport of casualty
DAY 6 - Personal Safety and Social Responsibility VI/I-4
- Safe work on ship
- Human relationship and contribution for good human relationship on ship
- Understanding order and ability of understanding given order
- Methods in emergency
- Prevention for pollution of sea environment
- Human relationships
Day 10 -Examination and Certificate
Final examination and get your full STCW Basic Safety Certificate. There is an approx fee of 55€ for the examination.
You will receive a STCW course certificate confirmation from the training centre. Originals will be sent to your address within 7-30 days.
With the Yacht STCW Basic Safety Certificate you are fully certified and it is worldwide approved.
