STCW Crowd Management Yacht Crew is a STCW Crowd Management & Human Behaviour certificate to work on Mega Large Yachts and passenger yachts. ECMT , IMO Approved Proficiency in Crowd Manamgement training must be undertaken by all crew on commercial and private Yachts which are required to comply with the large yacht code for passenger yachts with more than 12 passengers. This training/instruction meets the requirements STCW Regulation V/2 (7), A-V/2 (3).
What Is STCW Crowd Management and Who Needs It on Yachts?
STCW Crowd Management is a mandatory certificate for all crew working on yachts carrying more than 12 passengers. Under the Large Yacht Code (LYC), any commercial or private yacht operating with passenger safety duties must have crew who hold this certificate. Without it, your captain cannot legally assign you passenger safety responsibilities on board.
On superyachts in the charter market, where guest numbers regularly hit 12 and above, this certificate is standard. Most captains on yachts 40m and above operating in charter expect all crew to hold it before joining.
If you are a stewardess on a charter yacht, this certificate is what separates you from crew who can only work private. Charter is where the salaries are highest — junior stewardesses on charter yachts earn $2,500–$3,500 per month plus $500–$2,000 per week in tips. Crowd Management is the certificate that opens that market.
